Louis Copeland x Helen McAlinden at Gerard Byrne Gallery: IRELAND FASHION WEEK 2026

Overview

What connects a well-cut suit, a colourway and a painting? At Gerard Byrne Gallery, The Art of Making brought Irish fashion and art into conversation, exploring the craft and creative thinking behind each.

Presented in collaboration with Louis Copeland & Sons and Helen McAlinden, the evening featured a live runway showcasing the Autumn/Winter 2026 collections against the backdrop of Gerard Byrne’s paintings. Considered tailoring, natural fabrics and contrasting palettes moved from tweed, linen and tones drawn from the Irish landscape to Helen McAlinden’s vibrant use of colour.

The evening continued with a panel discussion moderated by Edel Kinane, featuring Gerard Byrne, Agata Byrne, Louis Copeland Snr and Louis Copeland Jnr. Their conversation explored the creative decisions and attention to detail that shape their respective practices, and the enduring value of making things well.

The Art of Making offered a meeting of disciplines united by a shared commitment to craftsmanship, material and design.
