WINSOR & NEWTON PRIZE

Winsor & Newton are world's fine art materials suppliers. The company awarded Gerard Byrne's plein air cityscape 'Sunny Day at Hammersmith Bridge' at fast painting competition Pintar Rapido London 2016. It was Gerard's very first an art competition attempt. Therefore the delight from the 2nd prize was even greater.
This morning a large box full of £500 worth fine art materials arrived at his Brighton studio. Selection of linseed oils, varnishes, charcoal sticks and professional brushes. All artist needs at the beginning of a new plein air painting season. What a delightful prize!

In 1832 chemist William Winsor and artist Henry Newton brought together the knowledge of the scientist and the creativity of the artist. Their collaboration offered an unprecedented choice of colour, clarity and permanence to fine artists. Winsor & Newton pinpointed what was really needed - a regular source of reliable colours and brushes. William and Henry’s commitment to quality and innovation are part of a rich heritage. It informs Winsor & Newton to this day.
'We’re dedicated to the craft of the fine artists and to providing them with new ways to explore their creativity. We embrace new ideas, we seek out the latest technologies and materials.
