ANGEL OF HOPE GOES TO GLENCREE

'Angels - Beacons of Hope' an Irish fund raising project features colourful sculptures of angels run by artist Nollaig Fahy. Each one featuring a unique design created by a host of celebrities. Contributors include Holywood actress Uma Thurman, Director Neil Jordan, Ryder Cup golfer Padraig Harrington, Ireland rugby star Brian O'Driscoll and The Edge from U2. The project involved renowned modern impressionist Gerard Byrne painting an 8-foot tall angel. Gerard called his art piece 'Hope Springs Eternal'. The project launched back in December 2010. The Angels have been on tour around Ireland. The Beacons of Hope sculptures were auctioned off in aid of charities.

Chris de Burgh generously purchased Angel of Hope designed and painted by Gerard Byrne. The Angel was donated to the Warrior Programme Ireland fundraiser. On 20th June 2011, Gerard's Angel of Hope arrived at Glencree Centre for Reconciliation, Co. Wicklow. The gift was accepted with a delight.

Gerard aspires his Angel won't become only as a symbol of hope, but as a visual art will help Glencree Centre's visitors in finding peace and hope in their everyday life. Gerard believes that art can heal and bring joy and happiness.
