Gerard’s skill in capturing light, color, and atmosphere will turn your special view or moment into a unique and timeless work of art. You might want a capture of your home, a memorable view, or a location that holds importance to you— a seaside spot you frequent with family, the hotel you exchanged vows at or the local pub where you fell in love. The process is simple, but there are a few key things to consider, from size and style to location and budget.
Step 1: Initial Consultation
The first step is to have a conversation with Gerard to discuss your idea, either in person or over the phone for him to consider the viability of the project. Gerard is especially drawn to views with strong architectural character, which naturally lend themselves to rich and balanced compositions. While every place holds meaning, not every view easily translates into a painting, so he carefully considers how the elements of a scene can come together to create a visually engaging piece.
Step 2: Location
Gerard paints on location to intimately capture the real essence of a place, If the location is in the Greater Dublin area, there are no additional travel costs. For national or international locations, travel, accommodation, and materials transportation costs may apply.
Step 3: Medium and Style
Choose between charcoal or oil as the medium for your painting. All the artworks are done on professional, high-quality Belgian linen canvas. Claessens.
-
Charcoal tends to be softer, with a more atmospheric, sketch-like quality.
-
Oil is rich and textured, often adding more vibrancy to the colors. Old Holland.
