Vanishing Dublin | Panel Discussion

April 16 | Gerard Byrne Gallery
As Dublin continues to change at pace, what do we stand to lose?

Inspired by Gerard Byrne's exhibition Before I Go. Vanishing Dublin, this panel brought together historians, heritage advocates, and cultural voices to explore the relationship between architecture, memory, and civic identity — and to ask what happens to a city when the old makes way for the new, and specificity gives way to sameness.

Moderated by Donal Fallon, historian, author, and presenter of the Three Castles Burning podcast, with:

  • Donal Fallon, Three Castles Burning
  • Donough Cahill, Irish Georgian Society
  • Vanessa Fielding, The Complex
  • Arran Henderson, Dublin Decoded
  • Daryl Hendley Rooney, The Little Museum of Dublin

Recorded at the Gerard Byrne Gallery, Trinity St, Dublin, April 16th 2026.

Before I Go. Vanishing Dublin gathers fifty cityscapes of Dublin — Georgian terraces, Victorian facades, canal locks, and beloved pubs — painted en plein air by Gerard Byrne. The exhibition runs until May 10th at the Gerard Byrne Gallery, Trinity St, Dublin. Free entry.
