35 YEARS OF ART: Celebrating Gerard Byrne

This special exhibition, 35 Years of Art: Celebrating Gerard Byrne, represents the culmination of Byrne's impressive 35-year career. It all began with a visionary debut in 1989 and has since blossomed into a legacy that continues to inspire and shape the contemporary Irish art scene. 

In the 90’s, Byrne was drawn to St. Stephens Green, jumping the gate to paint before the city rose. He also painted on location at nightclubs, capturing the city after dark. Over the years, he kept returning to familiar locales like the Shelbourne Hotel, the Martello Towers, South Dublin’s coastline and the National Botanic Gardens. Later in his career, he traveled the world, recording Parisian summers, London bridges and New York cityscapes, but he always returned to Dublin as a central subject of his work.
