Overview

Join Gerard Byrne at the gallery across this weekend to meet the artist, discuss the work, and pick up a signed copy of one of his publications.

As art historian Kathryn Milligan observed at the exhibition opening,

"Writers can describe the city in words, but artists show us what it is like to stand on the pavement, and feel the city life around you."

His publications do both — pairing image with text to give the work its full context. They offer a deeper understanding of the city Byrne has spent years documenting and his practice as an Irish Modern Impressionist at large. Whether you have already seen Before I Go. Vanishing Dublin or are yet to visit, this is a genuine opportunity to hear directly from the artist about his relationship with Dublin and the conviction that what is not recorded is lost forever.
