A Bloom in Quiet Light: GERARD BYRNE STUDIO | RANELAGH, DUBLIN

18 March - 2 May 2025
Overview

“Stop and smell the flowers. Ours have just begun to bloom—in color, in charcoal, and in the quiet light, on the cusp of another spring.”

As the days lengthen and the chill of winter wanes, spring emerges, bringing with it the promise of renewal. Buds of magnolia and cherry blossom begin to unfurl as the air grows light. Pink and white hues fill once-bare branches in a tender display of resilience. A Bloom in Quiet Light showcases this first blush of newness, featuring Gerard Byrne’s characteristic style of blending delicate moments of nature with the warmth of local life.

Byrne’s hand not only captures the passage of time, but also the very essence of light itself. The artworks on view speak to the wonder of cycles, where even the simplest scene—shadows on a sidewalk, a flowering branch in morning light, or a quiet neighborhood corner—becomes a testament to how beauty returns, season after season.

In this collection, Byrne traces the subtle dance of light and shadow down to the coastline from Seapoint to Dalkey, through the Botanic Gardens’ tranquil setting,  and back to the familiar streets of South Dublin, where even his dark charcoal strokes find the sunlight.

Come discover these sunlit views, accented by rocky seascapes and large-scale studio works featuring bold figurative pieces. We invite you to bear witness to this revelation—that there is always another season, another day, to get it right, to pick back up, to fall in love.
